KATY BENTALL
Katy Bentall is a British artist who lives between Poland and the U.K.
She works with places - locations on a map that are or have been of particular importance to her. Amongst others, these include Pracownia, an old a sculpture studio in Warsaw, Yonder Lye, her childhood home, and a wooden house in Dobre, a village on the 'Skarpa' in Eastern Poland. Gathering materiais from and in these places, she creates her own assemblages, using drawings, photographs, heirlooms, found objects, scraps of paper filled with her own words/jottings, and quotations from others. These gatherings may sometimes take the form of a book as in "The 2 Tomato Ladies" - the poetic tale of two imaginary green-fingered creatures inhabiting the Skarpa Dobrska.
